The Christian's Fondest Hope |
Manfred E. Kober, Th.D. |
The Savior’s promises give the believer present hope in these difficult last days. There is the hope of tranquility in the midst of life’s storms (Mt. 11:28). There is the promise of a new body after the disease and death in this vale of tears (John 11:25). But the greatest hope Christ held out for every believer is His any-moment return in the air to summon us to our eternal home. Ever since the Savior’s promise in the Upper Room the night before His substitutionary death (John 14:1-6), the rapture has been the Christian’s fondest hope. It is… 1. A Blessed Hope “Looking for that blessed hope and the glorious appearing” (Titus 2:13). 2. A Purifying Hope “And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.” (1 Jn. 3:3). 3. A Comforting Hope “Wherefore comfort one another with these words.” (1 Thess. 4:18). 4. A Sure Hope “We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereto you do well that you take heed.” (2 Peter 1:19). |
